MINNEAPOLIS, MN (April 15, 2013) - Conwed, the leading plastic netting manufacturer in the world, will be showcasing some of its latest innovations at IDEA13 – International Engineered Fabrics Conference & Expo in Miami Beach, FL (April 22-25, 2013).
Visitors to IDEA 13 will have the opportunity to see, touch and feel the newest elastic nonwoven composites powered by Rebound® elastomeric netting. They are an excellent alternative to spandex and stretch-film composites used in hygiene, medical and therapeutic applications.
“Our business is in constant evolution. We recognized the need to facilitate the adoption of our elastomeric netting as many manufacturers are already set up to process spandex and stretch films but have limitations to integrate netting. By offering a material that incorporates our elastomeric netting with a lightweight nonwoven, we help manufacturers simplify the integration of our materials into their manufacturing processes” said Ivan Soltero, Strategic Marketing Manager, Conwed.
Conwed considers waistbands, side panels, bandages and wraps in hygiene, medical and therapeutic applications ideal for these elastic composites. “For example, in adult incontinence underwear, we see consumers asking for reliable yet more breathable and comfortable products that fit into their active lifestyles. Our open mesh configuration and ability to customize hysteresis performance in one or both directions give these composites unique features that help manufacturers create exceptional products to delight this segment of the hygiene market”, said Soltero.
In addition to these elastic composites, Conwed will display non-elastic, reinforcement applications with other substrates such as film, foam, foil, paper and nonwoven fabrics. These composites bring superior strength and lightweight product design to a world of applications. (Conwed- IDEA Booth 1329)

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (February 1st, 2013) - The Nonwovens Industry gathered at VISION 2013 –Consumer Products Conference organized by the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry (INDA) in Orlando, FL (Jan 28-31, 2013). Conwed exhibited its wide netting portfolio for hygiene, medical, and cleaning applications. Manufacturers, OEMs and converters rely on Conwed netting to add reinforcement, stretch and lamination functionalities to their final products.
Among the highlights of VISION 2013, Conwed displayed its co-extruded netting, THERMANET®, a netting configuration with different layers within the same netting design. THERMANET® can be designed with adhesive layers to facilitate thermal lamination to other substrates. It is widely used to improve tensile strength in diverse composites while maintaining lightweight configurations.
Conwed also promoted its elastomeric netting, Rebound®. Rebound® is extruded plastic netting made with specialty polymeric materials that provide stretchability in one or both directions of the web. It is an exceptional alternative to other stretch materials such as spandex, films and stretchable nonwovens. Rebound® is used as the elastic component in adult incontinence underwear and baby training pants (waistbands and side panels) and medical composites (therapeutic wraps, bandages, etc.)

COMPONENT TECHNOLOGY TRENDS
In the field of elastomeric netting Conwed is one of the world’s leaders. Its Rebound® elastomeric netting is used in composite form with nonwovens and other substrates acting as an alternative to spandex, films and stretchable nonwovens. It is used in waistbands, side panels and various medical composites needing superior hysteresis and breathability.
It is no surprise that hygiene manufacturers look for components that provide superior comfort to end-users. “We consider product performance, convenience and price as important factors that determine consumer adoption but in the end, regardless of the market segment, offering a hygiene product that fits well, breaths appropriately and is easy to use, influences end users’ purchase decision exponentially,” says Ivan Soltero, Strategic Marketing Manager, Conwed. “In addition to superior stretch and recovery properties, our elastomeric netting has exceptional air and moisture permeability, which affects how comfortable the final product feels for the users.”
At the end of the day, the product has to perform well. As a component provider, Conwed understands that customizing technical properties is essential for every hygiene application. “Whether we develop tailored force, elongation, stress relaxation and energy loss in our stretch performance or we fine-tune breathability properties through different netting configurations, we understand that our customers need to provide products that execute well to guarantee consumer adoption,” says Soltero.
Hygiene manufacturers have different manufacturing capabilities and having the flexibility to serve various production processes helps component providers maximize exposure of their technology.
“Some customers are able to add stretch engine materials in-line and others require pre-assembled composites,” says Soltero. “We encourage hygiene manufacturers to contact us as we are promoting pre-assembled composites of our leading elastomeric netting with nonwovens for waistband and side panel applications.”
Superior features for optimal results
MINNEAPOLIS (August 6th, 2012) – Conwed introduces new Vexar Carry Bag Mesh netting for the produce industry. This new flat joint tubular netting provides the optimal level of performance, protection and affordability for automated fresh produce packaging.
This cost-effective solution provides a drop-in replacement for other extruded and knitted netting with little or no equipment adjustment required and has consistent performance on Daumar®, Giro®, and other carry bag equipment.
The increased surface area improves adhesion strength when sealed to film and the flattened joint on the diamond pattern reduces abrasion, preventing damage to the produce’s skin.
“We are excited to be able to offer the first and only carry bag mesh option made in the United States at a level 2 SQF manufacturing facility for produce packers. We are introducing great features that will provide optimal results,” said Michelle Allshouse, Conwed’s Marketing Manager.
Conwed offers one of the most extensive packaging portfolios in the world. From lightweight and knitted to totally customized products, we’ll produce the solution for you.
