CORE PRODUCTS
Based on the final product application, Conwed can recommend the most suitable netting solution.
You can start by exploring our core products and technologies portfolio, but we understand that sometimes the best answer to your product development challenges may not be an off-the-shelf solution. Our R&D team thrives on exploring unusual, untested, out-of-the-box concepts. We have an open mindset in developing new and unexplored applications, so before assuming your project can’t be done, CHALLENGE US.

Extruded square netting is the most common netting configuration used in a large number of industrial and consumer applications. As an example, Conwed produces square netting that protects oil and gas pipelines against debris and rock damage during backfilling. Not only did Conwed deliver a solution with basic pipeline protection features; we also created netting that helped maintain cathodic protection without inhibiting cathodic flow.

Extruded diamond netting is a favorite configuration in cross-flowing applications due to its unique volume and height characteristics. Opposite strands lie one on top of the other, providing that differential space gap when compared to square netting. For example, in filtration applications, diamond netting is used for drainage and spacing, allowing consistent flow characteristics for proper turbulence to clean membrane media surfaces.

Extruded flat netting is an alternative to level the joints where opposite strands collide. From building and construction products to sophisticated medical and hygiene applications, flat joints may be a performance or a perception requirement. For example, we manufacture fence products with regular or flat joints. The flat joints allow for a smoother surface and may prevent injury during shipping, handling and installation of fence products at the job site.

Extruded tubes are generally used to support, contain and separate. Most current applications are in filtration, where extruded tubes provide strength and rigidity to protect delicate filtration media. Nevertheless, extruded tubes are used in consumer and transportation applications. The ability to customize our portfolio opens the door for modifications of new and unexplored applications.

Co-extrusion is extruded and oriented square netting with different materials in different layers. For example, Conwed can produce a square netting that has polypropylene in the core layer and an adhesive formulation on top and bottom layers for subsequent thermal lamination purposes.

The difference between co-extrusion and bi-component is that co-extrusion has different layers (one on top of the other) following exactly the same configuration. Bi-component has two different materials, one in each opposite direction, forming the web. For example, Conwed produces a stretchable component product that has elastomeric material in one direction and adhesive in the opposite direction.

Knitted netting utilizes a different technology than extruded or oriented netting. It is usually part of products that need some type of flexibility and movement. For example, Conwed manufactures the leading knitted netting for oil-absorbent booms. It is the key component used to encase and contain the filler that repels water but absorbs oil and hydrocarbons. Also, knitted netting is an essential part of our packaging portfolio that includes produce, meats and other consumer goods.
