SYNTHETIC FIBERS
Conwed manufactures specialty synthetic fibers used as the matrix element in permanent erosion control applications.
PROSTRAN® synthetic fibers are designed and manufactured to provide excellent loft and matrix fill in Turf Reinforcement Mats (TRMs) for permanent erosion control applications. TRMs are permanent Rolled Erosion Control Products (RECPs) composed of non-degradable synthetic fibers, filaments, nets, wire mesh and/or other elements, processed into a permanent, three-dimensional matrix of sufficient thickness.
TRMs are typically used in hydraulic applications, such as high flow ditches and channels, steep slopes, stream banks, and shorelines, where erosive forces may exceed the limits of natural, unreinforced vegetation or in areas where limited vegetation establishment is anticipated.¹
Manufacturers of TRMs use our PROSTRAN® synthetic fibers with our oriented plastic netting to form superior erosion control products. Our portfolio includes a variety of colors, chemical formulations and recycled material that adapts to the requirements of the final application.
PROSTRAN® Synthetic fibers
Our standard Prostran® Green is used in permanent erosion control applications. Its green color helps TRMs aesthetically blend in green vegetation areas. PROPERTIES: strand length = 5.0”, strand diameter =0.0105”, crimp height 0.25” and it is delivered in 550 lbs. bales.
Our Prostran® Tan is used in permanent erosion control applications. Its tan color helps TRMs aesthetically blend in brown or dry landscape areas. PROPERTIES: strand length = 5.0”, strand diameter =0.0105”, crimp height 0.25” and it is delivered in 550 lbs. bales.
Our Prostran® 50 is used in permanent erosion control applications and made with 50% recycled plastic. The color of the bale is a combination of green and black fibers. PROPERTIES: strand length = 5.0”, strand diameter =0.0105”, crimp height 0.25” and it is delivered in 550 lbs. bales.
Our Prostran® 100 is used in permanent erosion control applications and made with 100% recycled plastic. The black color is due to the recycled resins used. PROPERTIES: strand length = 5.0”, strand diameter =0.0105”, crimp height 0.25” and it is delivered in 550 lbs. bales.BENEFITS TO MANUFACTURERS
