Conwed Acquires Etiquetas y Empaques, S.A. de C.V., Expands Global Netting Solutions Within Packaging Industry Minneapolis, MN - February 23, 2007 - Conwed Global Netting Solutions, a market leader in manufacturing of extruded and oriented plastic netting, announces the acquisition of Etiquetas y Empaques, S.A. de C.V. Headquartered in Guadalajara, Mexico Etiquetas y Empaques, S.A. de C.V.,is a leading converter and printer of extruded and knitted plastic header bags for packaging of produce, toys and specialty items.
With this acquisition, Conwed continues to expand its global presence as the leader in lightweight netting. Etiquetas y Empaques represents the sixth acquisition in the past 4 years and the second outside the United States. “The Etiquetas y Empaques acquisition allows us to expand our netting capabilities in the produce packaging market,” says Mark Lewry, President and CEO of Conwed. “With this acquisition we will be in a position to offer our customers unique value added packaging solutions and extend our geographic service area to the West Coast, Mexico, as well as Central and South America.”
Alonso Garcia, Owner and President of Etiquetas y Empaques, will join the Conwed management team. Mr. Garcia will oversee the expansion of the manufacturing footprint in Guadalajara to serve the growing customer base in the US and throughout the Americas.
